Read more@gauravsabnis Let me help you out with these 2 states. In CT, you can only buy beer at grocery stores and for other things package store. In MD, beer and wine at local shops; hard liquor only at state owned stores. No beer at grocery stores unless you are in Montgomery county.

Read more@gauravsabnis When we moved to CT, alcohol sales were not allowed on Sundays. That law changed just a few years ago and same is true for RI and MA. So, I can see the appeal of NH liquor stores that sell at a cheaper price, no tax and open on Sunday.
Read more@gauravsabnis Liquor stores are called package stores here in CT and surrounding states due to laws from after prohibition time. One could only buy alcohol in a closed package approved for sale by the state and not in an open container.
Read more@gauravsabnis Liquor stores are a state monopoly in NH. That is why the big signs on the interstate. There is no sales tax and they have better prices due to their scale. Northeastern states have had very restrictive laws with regards to alcohol sales for a long time.

Read more@bhalomanush The lab where I did postdoc participates in CASP. It is a good exercise but you are predicting structures of proteins that have been solved experimentally. Structures of unfolded proteins and what they do is still a big and important black box.
