Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam The proposed doses for mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/Biontech are in microgram range while the usual mAb doses are a thousand fold higher in milligrams making it challenging and costlier to manufacture mAbs for widespread use.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam But as you correctly pointed out, the effectiveness of mAbs lasts for a couple of months as they are degraded over time. Most mAb therapies require monthly injections of not more frequent. For vaccines, usually 1 or 2 doses generate immunity that lasts for year or more.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam Although only one of the three doses tested show viral load reduction, the lower rate of hospitalization and ER visits is encouraging. By design it is a neutralizing mAb, so it is not a surprise that it works.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam This could definitely work as a treatment option after they prove the efficacy and safety in a larger phase 3 study. This is a human mAb so, safer in terms of antigenicity.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam Didn’t think about it as treatment. That will make a difference. But then to switch from treatment to prophylaxis, a big bridging study will be needed at that time.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam For a different disease with different endpoint and study design the number of subjects would be different.
Read more@bhalomanush @CinemaPaithiyam The number of subjects would still be the same as it would be a similar study design with similar endpoint to achieve that is protection from infection.
Read more@bhalomanush Also producing mAbs on the scale is not that simple. There are many mAbs on the market for various diseases but it takes time to make it go through the approval process and produce large quantities consistently.

Read more@BPoloAna No. IMO, all 3rd party voters are throwing away votes and acting just as spoilers. Unless the 3rd parties have a chance of capturing a significant number of votes, they shouldn’t even field candidates on National level.
Read more@LionsVictory2 @gauravsabnis Yes, it does work both ways but, the people who vote for 3rd party are essentially throwing away their vote. It doesn’t count towards the result, only works as a spoiler. They should build up the parties on local level first before even fielding a candidate on National level.
